I bought my dress!!! Now I know its been awhile since the first post in this series so if you need a refresher, check out Part 1.
Here is the story behind the buy…
As I mentioned at the end of Part 1, there was a dress I thought could be THE ONE, but I wanted to keep looking. Since, I had my eye on the second Vera Wang dress from our post on Asymmetrical Necklines, I decided to go try it on. While at the salon, I discovered the exact same dress as the one that I brought a picture of to my appointments to show consultants. I couldn’t believe it!

I thought this bride looked stunning and the dress fit all my loves…lace, ruffles, sheath, and vintage vibe. So it was the perfect picture to show consultants what I was looking for in a dress. But I never imagined I’d be trying it on! Needless to say I was in love, but I still had the first dress from Reem Acra on my mind.

Now I know its complete different but there was something about it I liked. I tried it on with a vintage-esque jeweled belt which definitely changes the look.
What to do! I loved TWO dresses! My solution? Call in the big guns…my dad.
I’m very close with my dad and I knew he’d know which dress was meant for me. First, I took him to Reem Acra to see me in the dress

And then to Vera Wang (again this is me in the dress…please keep in mind neither of the samples fit me 100% and the picture quality isn’t great)

He knew right away. The Vera Wang dress was THE ONE for me! There was no question in his mind that this was the dress he could see walking me down the aisle in. His reaction was exactly what I needed to help make my decision. I, of course, started crying. I am so happy I asked for his opinion and was able to share the experience with him. I love my dress, it is absolutely me. Definitely the dress I’ve always envisioned myself wearing (it has covered buttons down the back! I always wanted covered buttons!). I hope you’ll all I agree I chose the right one!
As you can see, I’m doing something a little different around the waist from the other bride. The belt that comes with the dress didn’t really work for me so I’m exploring other options. What do you think? Do you like the sash plain as in the first picture or with the broach in the second? Or perhaps no sash at all? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
I’m so excited to have a dress and that my dad was a part of the process. I’d highly recommend bringing dad along. Next step, tying the knot! Now those pictures I can’t wait to share…with my head.
