Real Wedding – Gorgeous In the Garden

Beth and Dan wed in a gorgeous garden ceremony in South Australia this past March and had a lovely time working together to bring their rustic wedding dreams to life!  Beth looked like a total dream in her lacy Anna Campbell dress and we think her maids were gorgeous by her side in their poppy red frocks.  The portraits from Vanessa Voth are some of the sweetest we’ve seen and every image just pops off the page!  This darling wedding is proof that all you need is a couple in love, your loved ones, and a few lovely details to pull off your dream wedding!

Lovely: Tell us about THE dress and what inspired your look.

Beth: I looked around only briefly in my hometown, and actually found some nice evening dresses by designer Anna Campbell. I loved her style so my sister got researching and found that Anna Campbell has a boutique in Melbourne with a bridal collection, so we made a sisters trip over there and as soon as I walked into the boutique I was in love with every dress! Then I had to choose one! I finally decided on a very unique dress that hadn’t been chosen by any brides before me. Perfect! I loved the lace on the chest and back, and the beautiful flowing design of the skirt and train.

Lovely: What were the most important details to pulling off your dream wedding?

Beth: Dan and I both love the outdoors, and also a rustic style, so we had no problem agreeing on a beautiful property to have a garden ceremony, and an awesome rustic reception venue. I’ve always been an arty/crafty person and Dan, being a carpenter, loves to make things as well, so we crafted quite a few things which made the wedding very ‘us’. Some of these things included the hessian pocket invites, the favours which were coasters we made from cut branches from my parents backyard and cute little stamps, and I made my own earrings and the bride, groom and tandem bike for the cake toppers (with wire). We wanted a relaxed, fun feel so we served cups of tea (with lots of odd tea cups I’d collected) and gelati after the ceremony, and then for dinner at the reception we had a variety of gourmet wood fired pizzas served.

Lovely: What was the most memorable moment?

Beth: The aisle I walked down was curved because it was a garden wedding and people packed out the area, so I couldn’t see Dan until I was two thirds of the way down the aisle. Seeing his face was the most memorable moment because he had chosen to not shave for 6 months before the big day (his idea being if he couldn’t see my dress until the wedding day, I couldn’t see his face until the day!) and finally I could see his spunky face again!!! I also didn’t expect that I would get teary but unexpectedly in that moment I did.

Lovely: If you could give future brides any advice, what would it be?

Ashley: Preparing for the wedding day is important, but preparing for a life of marriage is even more important. Don’t lose sight of the thing that really matters, and also the relationships you have with friends and family. Don’t let people who work in wedding related businesses make you feel like you have to have your wedding a certain way – it’s your wedding, do what you want and make it very you (“you” plural – your partner included!)
