Real Wedding – Soft, Sweet and Sunny
We’d be hard-pressed to find a sweeter wedding than Jess & Jay’s. Their summer soiree exudes warmth, happiness, and genuine love – with incredible style to boot! Photographer Elisabeth Millay did a lovely job capturing Jess’s sweet anticipation in her getting ready photos, shared moments between the newlyweds, and the gorgeous design details that have us swooning.

Jess is simply glowing in these photographs. We’re feeling a little smiley ourselves over her simple, elegant gown paired with rockin’ embellished cowboy boots.
Lovely: Tell us about THE dress and what inspired your look.
Jess: My dress is Aspen by Modern Trousseau. I was originally looking for something with less structure, but I saw this dress on the mannequin and fell in love. It was the first dress I tried on. I tried on five more dresses of various styles and fabrics, but after I put on each dress, I’d tell everyone, “No, I need to put the first dress back on!” I made my decision that day! As for the boots – I’ve been wearing boots since I could walk, and Jay is a simple country boy. Boots are comfortable for us and make us feel like ourselves!

“It was important for me to give Jay his wedding gift the night before – personalized locket cufflinks with photos of his grandparents inside.,” Jess said. “Three of his grandparents have passed away and one couldn’t be at the wedding, so these cufflinks were a way for them to ‘be there’ symbolically.”
Lovely: What was the most memorable moment?
Jess: For me, the most memorable moment of the day was waiting for the doors to open right before my dad and I walked down the aisle. It was the moment where everything hit me and I realized I was about to marry my best friend. There are no words to describe the plethora of emotions a bride feels at that moment. I also remember getting into the limo after the ceremony – the first quiet moment Jay and I shared together after saying our vows – and we just looked at each other and said, “Wow…we’re married!”

To make their wedding even more special, Jess and Jay’s reception was full of original details created by their close friends and family. Jess’s talented aunt, Rosemary Kracke from Rosebud Studio Design, even designed the save the dates and did all of the calligraphy!
Lovely: What were the most important details to pulling off your dream wedding?
Jess: The most important thing for us was to include as many personal details as possible, without making it tacky or overdoing it. We wanted to put ourselves into each aspect of the day. This is why the Adirondack chair was something we wanted to include – how many couples go back and look through their guest book years after the wedding? We wanted a keepsake that fits our personalities, and having a friend of ours make the chair makes it even more special. Also, the birch tree cake was a fun one for us. We wanted something different and unconventional, like the two of us. I was a little nervous about how it would turn out, but everyone loved it!

Congratulations Jay & Jess! Thank you for sharing your lovely day with us!
