Let Them Eat Cake

When it comes to food, the general consensus here at Lovely is that the prettier it is, the more we love it. These masterpieces from Maggie Austin Cake fall into the too pretty to eat category and—as far as we’re concerned—are edible pieces of art! Chef Maggie LaBaugh uses the freshest ingredients and finest techniques to create these couture cakes. Using her amazing talents she sculpts each ruffle, sugar flower, and detail, creating elegant and unique cakes that come in a variety of delicious flavors. Ok maybe we can eat just one…

Real Wedding…Baby It’s Cold Outside

If you’re less than ecstatic about the looming chill in the air, Danielle and Patrick’s magical winter wedding is sure to keep you warm, smiling, and even wishing for snow! Their stunning vintage-inspired day started with a dreamy first look that was one of Danielle’s favorite moments: “I stepped out of the car and walked over to him, his back to me, seeing the snow falling around him and the type of silence that occurs only when it snows. When he turned around, it felt like we were the only people out there.”

The couple didn’t want the done-before red winter wedding, but instead opted for an elegant palette of creams, ivories, brown, and silver.  Danielle’s gorgeous Matthew Christopher gown was chosen for her by the designer himself, and shone against the smiling faces of their friends and family.  Danielle’s Lo Boheme feathered hair clip, fabulous fur shawl, and birdcage veil completed her luxe, wintery look – and don’t you just love a bride in Ugg boots?

Danielle and Patrick’s vision of vintage glamour and cozy elegance came to life at the The Blue Bell Country Club in Pennsylvania, replete with stunning chandeliers and a classic ballroom.  Danielle and her mother included personal touches throughout the venue, including the wedding stationery, handmade brooches, and a guestbook full of their engagement photos.

If you can’t get enough of this regal affair, check out their wedding video here.

Lovely Loves: A Wedding Keepsake

We love these adorable keepsake bowls via Paloma’s Nest on Etsy. They are simply precious, and can be personalized for your special day with phrases such as “With This Ring” or “To Have And To Hold” along with the date of your wedding.

What a lovely idea! They can be used as a ring bearers bowl during your ceremony and then kept as an heirloom. Or, they could also be the start of a wonderful family tradition that is passed on from one generation to the next! We also adore the simple initial monogram bowl which would make great groomsmen or bridesmaid’s gifts.

Real Wedding: Apple Orchard

We are extremely fond of this real wedding, which took place at the brides parent’s home on their apple orchard in Maine. Katie recalls that she wanted to create an intimate and personal feel despite their large guest list, and her parent’s home was the perfect setting. They had a simple handfasting ceremony followed by cocktails in the backyard and a ho down under the tent.

Every detail was personal right down to the decorations. Katie says, “We gathered things that were made, found in the barn, found in neighbors barns, at flea markets, or on etsy. All of my family and friends pitched in to help pull off the wedding, right down to my bridesmaids who hauled hay across the yard the morning of the wedding. It was a complete labour of love!”
