We had a pretty successful vintage shopping trip this past weekend for items for Lovely. HUGE TIP when thrifting at an organized mart (like Brooklyn Flea for instance):
1) Find the directory of vendors that show there.
2) Check out their website, etsy page, facebook or whatever other vehicle they have for showing their wares.
3) Call or email them in advance and ask them to bring the pieces you like. Especially big pieces, as they don’t come to the shows with these all the time.
4) If you don’t see anything you like, but like their style, give them a list of things to hunt for. These guys have access to items you could only dream of, so even with their markup, it’s worth having them do the looking. They can find something in a fraction of the time you would spend scouring and can get you the condition you specify.
Check out these cute chairs I got from Vintage Steph! With a coat of bright paint and some funky fabrics, these could be so adorable for dressing room seating!

And how cute is the flooring in the bathroom (flowers) and kitchen (green border). I have to give a huge shout out to my hubs for the kitchen. He laid all the tile himself in this fun pattern! A tip for cheap flooring: vinyl tile. It may look a little ‘high school hallway’ in a solid color, but if you have fun with a border, stripe, pattern, etc, this looks really cute and retro.
And lastly, how could I end a post on decor without talking again about my Liberty of London bike? Ok swear this is the last time, but I just had to show you how great the colors will look with our paint choices! I’m having a bike moment, and as I walked home yesterday, I noticed so many cute and original bikes. I hope to see these popping up this year in wedding photos as props.

The top left bike is mine (did I mention only 37 of this print was made? Mine is 31 of 37…I’m a proud mom). The bike on the right is a Trek bike called the Drift. I had no clue Trek had stepped up their game. Well done Trek. The bike at the bottom is called an Achielle. I’ve never heard of it, but it must be pretty chic because this was sitting outside of Sarah Jessica Parker’s brownstone. Do you think it’s hers or Matt’s?

ooooh! I love it all! I can’t wait to see the final results of your gorgeous shop!!!
It was great to meet you, Lanie! Thanks so much for blogging about your shopping experience in the vintagesteph booth at Brooklyn Flea.
